Our very own Paul Stinemetz, President and CEO of Endlessrise, recently took part in Brightlocal’s TalkingLocal series.
TalkingLocal provides key interviews with major influencers from the local search world, enabling them to share their expertise with an engaged audience.
In the most recent interview, Brightlocal co-founder Myles Anderson asked Paul to share his expert knowledge with those thinking of establishing offshore operations or are considering using outsource companies to power their business processes.
In this short but in-depth interview, Myles and Paul covered these key discussion points:
- The challenges, advantages, and pitfalls of running an outsource operation
- Why the Philippines is such a high-growth area for outsourcing and offshoring
- How to keep outsourced staff motivated and loyal
- How to establish a successful management structure
- Key advice for anyone interested in setting up their own offshore operation
Paul began the interview by revealing a little bit about his professional background. A biochemistry major in college, Paul needed a reoccurring income structure for himself, and luckily for him, he discovered online marketing. Paul first relocated to Puerto Rico to start his own online marketing company and go surfing.
Paul stated, “I was put in a situation to where I either build our own team stateside or I produce an outsource entity, and I realized there was such a need for a legitimate outsourcing program that was exclusively white-label to re-sellers that I should pursue that opportunity.”
Thus, the idea of providing white label online marketing and web design services exclusively to resellers was born. Paul relocated to the Philippines, where his hard work and vision saw him grow his company from ten employees to 300 employees in just three and a half years.
Paul then went on to discuss his reasons for choosing the Philippines. When it comes to outsourcing and labor rates, the Philippines is pretty competitive. “You save a lot of money and it’s on par with India in terms of labor rates,” Paul affirmed. Another reason for his choice was the Philippine’s highly westernized culture and strong command of the English language. Paul also commended the strong work ethic of Filipinos, their family oriented culture, and national laws that make it easy for foreign corporations to establish operations, and own the majority of their corporations.
Paul also discussed the ideal skills and traits he looks for in applicants, stating that—among other things—he generally avoids hiring freelancers as they might not be used to a structured office environment. He then provided tips on how to successfully implement a dynamic management structure that would facilitate business operations.
As for keeping outsourced staff motivated and loyal, Paul mentioned Endlessrise’s competitive benefits—a comprehensive healthcare plan, a strong career path, vacation leaves, sick leave credits, and fun team buildings. These benefits create a positive company culture that keeps employees content, balanced, motivated, and loyal.
How about entrepreneurs who are interested in establishing offshore operations? What advice does Paul have for them? Among other things, Paul advocates solid legal and accounting advice, as well as relying on a strong recruitment department to bring in the right employees. And of course, lots of hard work and the occasional sleepless night are vital to success.Build your own Digital Marketing Agency Today! >>
