Endlessrise is principally owned by Paul Stinemetz and Lee Ann Roman, known and respected in the industry today as two of the highest level marketing consultants in the world. But this was not the case when they first started out. Most would say that all odds were against them given their unique and unrelated backgrounds. Their achievement of providing exceptional services to resellers over the years is a testament that every reseller can also be successful.
The Paul and Lee Ann Mini-Saga
A bit about Paul and starting up Endlessrise
Paul Stinemetz is known as the founder of the private label online marketing outsourcing industry. He created the world’s first marketing BPO corporation exclusively servicing only marketing companies under a white label. Paul is the founder of Endlessrise Inc., and currently serves as CEO of the company.
With a background in Biochemistry, he applied basic scientific methods to the marketing industry and had amazing success. Paul founded Endlessrise while taking a leave from school and never looked back. He credits his “first business success” to natural business instincts and a relentless work ethic.
Paul has personally consulted over 2,500 marketing agencies in an effort to help them become thriving entities in the retail online marketing and design world. Through collective speaking engagements, Paul has held an audience of over 20,000 marketing and design executives worldwide. Currently, Paul lives near the Endlessrise headquarters in Makati City, Philippines and continues to be a thriving workaholic.
In an interview, he said, “People have been telling me for many years that I work too hard and that too much work will become a detriment. In short people thought I was crazy for working so much and not taking a break.” He exclaimed, “They call me the White Ghost because I work nights and get no sun, hahaha! But it is actually easier for me. I am a simple person and believe in compartmentalizing my life. I’m happy sprinting on a daily basis and can see myself slowing down to a jog when I’m 50. I like working, therefore it is easy.”
In search of a passive income, Paul stumbled upon online marketing and decided that it was the safest way to generate passive income given his startup budget. In 2007, he purchased some online marketing lessons, put college on hold, and flew to Puerto Rico. Paul chose Puerto Rico because he said he wanted to get away and isolate himself from the rest of the world to increase his odds of creating a successful business. Being a surfer, and being in Rincon, Puerto Rico–the #1 surf town in the world surely had a significant influence as well.
Once in Puerto Rico, Paul sent out 40 different outsource proposals to firms in India. The goal was to outsource the marketing and design work to Indian firms and take the client directly (taking the role of what is now known as the traditional “reseller”). After on-boarding a couple of clients, he was connected with a local design firm and that was when he met Lee Ann. Lee Ann was looking for a new career opportunity and Paul was in a very early startup phase and urgently needed the help. Little did he know at the time that Lee Ann would turn out to manage over 300 employees and become a necessity to the success of the company.
A bit about Lee Ann and starting up Endlessrise
Lee Ann Roman has been the Chief Operating Officer at Endlessrise since November 2009. In 2011, Lee Ann became Vice President and Treasurer of Endlessrise. She is responsible for assisting in managing all of operations, finances, human resources, and communications. She is also responsible for taking a staff of zero and growing it to over 300 employees by 2014.
She is responsible for scaling Endlessrise operations and expanding its online brand through reputable product delivery. Since 2009, Lee Ann had established all workflows including policies and procedures when it comes to the delivery of the marketing services as well as the internal communication and network infrastructure.
Lee Ann obtained an AA in Stenography and a BS in Education which was completed in 2005. She originally got started online by landing an internship where she taught herself website development. Fascinated by how fast the internet was taking off, she quickly began to learn about the soon to boom industry of SEO.
Lee Ann has been quoted by saying, “Even though I felt inadequate in the beginning, I taught myself everything I know today when it comes to this industry and I have gotten all the way to the top. It’s not about what you don’t know, it’s about knowing you can do anything. I share this with my employees on a daily basis. The harder you work, the greater the reward. With an attitude like that, you can achieve anything regardless of education or gender. It’s all about your decision to conquer your worst fears and just go for it”. Through networking, Lee Ann ran into Paul of Endlessrise and she grabbed the opportunity to be a part of an exciting startup.
There were two main problems during the startup phase of Endlessrise, the business plan and the people. Servicing direct clients require a reliable outsourcing team, and 5-6 years ago, a reliable outsourcing team did not exist. Endlessrise had to switch to 3 different outsourcing firms overseas but failed time and time again, losing the majority of their clients in the process.
This is where the partial solution came into place, Paul and Lee Ann had decided to become the “middleman” between the agencies selling direct to the clients and the outsource provider of choice in India. The plan was that if enough micro-management could be put on the overseas teams, the end-product could be delivered on time and of much higher quality. However, the problem of extraordinary poor quality and late deliverables continued to plague them.
The only option left was to either give up, or move overseas and build a white label outsourcing team specifically to service marketing and design agencies that need to outsource their work. Clearly they decided to take on the challenge and moved to the Philippines.
Although Paul is from a small town in Kansas, Lee Ann grew up in Texas, and neither of them are well traveled, they didn’t hesitate to move to the Philippines to start setting up Endlessrise. Lee Ann said, “It was so exciting to start looking for our own office, our own employees, and having control over our own company. After depending on unreliable overseas teams, I couldn’t wait to get hands-on and build our dream team!”
After 3 months of dealing with immigration, legal papers, and business permits, Endlessrise finally had a physical office and on-site employees in the Philippines. Now you know why Endlessrise is so strict about having employees work only from the physical office, it is because the founders worked so hard to make that happen and to get away from managing people remotely.
The Outcome and the Future
Endlessrise has been grown fast since being incorporated in the Philippines. And the term “endless rise” proves to be providential. Within three and a half years of setting up office, Endlessrise grew to over 300 employees — a testament to its solid reputation and steady growth. The partners found a great pool of talent in the Philippines with a very warm culture, with strong affinity to the United States, who are good English speakers, who are competent, dedicated and committed. The formula was complete to grow a business and a dream team dedicated to only service agencies looking for outsourcing.
As the company increased in size it became less of a Paul-and-Lee-Ann-company and more of a corporate entity. The passion and work ethic of the executives carried through to the higher management and even down to new employees. Managers started evolving their own departments, working overtime on their choosing, and truly embraced the attitude of Endlessrise being their own company. Lee Ann said, “I was so happy to see Endlessrise take on a life of its own – to see the company run on its own and evolve on its own. You know your operations are solid when you can step away and they are better when you come back. This company has truly changed over the years and has become a self-sustaining and self-evolving company thanks to all the hard work of our management staff.”
Without a doubt, the attitude and loyalty of the Endlessrise operations team would be a daunting task to replicate, and it is responsible for the massive growth in such a short time. But there is also another notable factor that makes Endlessrise unique. Paul said, “I credit our growth to our operational teams of course, but if I had to pinpoint another primary component, I would have to say it is our loyalty to our position in this industry. We chose a long time ago not to accept any direct clients and only serve as an outsourced provider to marketing and design agencies in need of our services. We sacrificed a lot of revenue and profit by not accepting any retail clients, but in doing so, we proved our loyalty to the agencies we service. To this date there is not one single notable competitor we have that does not accept direct clients.”
With Endlessrise riding on the passion of Paul, Lee Ann, and their skilled team of over 35 managers, the future of Endlessrise is looking brighter than ever. To this day Paul and Lee Ann live within a block of the office and continue to put every ounce of energy they have into building the world’s greatest white label online marketing and design outsource firm.
