A lot of our partner white label SEO resellers have been working extra hard on their online marketing and web design campaigns lately as the year is about to close. There is so much to be done as the holiday months of November and December have just opened. This is a busy time, especially for consultants who handle online retailers or clients launching their own holiday promotions. Others are scrambling for more leads so they can close the year strong.
On top of this surge in business, white label SEO resellers should be looking forward to 2014 this early. If Webmarketing123′s State of Digital Marketing Report 2014 and other studies are any indication, next year will be a very fruitful year for online marketing consultants and agencies. There are at least 5 massive opportunities for online marketing and web design resellers next year and if you don’t cash in on them, you will surely miss out.
Online Marketing is Booming
Here are the 5 areas of Internet marketing you can expect to explode next year:
- Content Marketing
- SEO/SEM (search engine optimization and marketing)
- Social Media Optimization
- Display Advertising/Remarketing
To understand why these areas will be hot in 2014, we look into the findings of the State of Digital Marketing Report 2014, which surveyed over 500 digital marketers from both B2B and B2C sectors. Among the interesting results of the study are:
- Nearly only 1 in 4 marketers spend less than 10% of the budget on digital efforts
- 50% increase in outsourced SEO and SEM programs from 2012
- 63% will spend more on content creation
Marketers plan to spend more on external providers for their online marketing activities. “Marketers rely on agency expertise to supplement in-house teams on non-core business functions, with a whopping 50% YOY increase in outsourced SEO and SEM programs,” the report noted.
We already know that more and more businesses are relying on agencies for search engine optimization and marketing. But that’s not the only good news; more marketers also plan to spend more on these two areas. On average, almost 46% of marketers will allocate more money for SEO. By contrast, only 1.5% of marketers said they will decrease budgets for SEO.
When it comes to SEM – which covers paid ads and other search-related marketing initiatives – nearly one-third of marketers are expected to increase their budgets. Only 5.5% will spend less for it. When combined, some 39% of marketers will spend more for search optimization and marketing. Only 3.5% said they will decrease allocations for SEO/SEM.
2) Content Creation
Another area of opportunity for our private label resellers is content. Prior to 2013, the term “content marketing” wasn’t even popular among marketers. But with Google algorithm updates Penguin and Panda forcing SEO professionals to create high quality content instead of producing thin content and using link schemes to game the system – content has taken center stage.
Not surprisingly, the report found that over 63% of marketers plan to spend more on videos, webinars, white papers, and other types of content. By stark contrast, less than 2% of marketers will decrease budgets for content. B2B businesses, in particular, will be hungry for more content as a whopping 69% will invest more in this area. The percentage is also high for B2C at 53%.
Will they be hiring writers and video editors or will they outsource content creation? A separate B2B marketing trends study by Curata found that content creation is one area marketers struggle with. Creating original content (69%) and having the time to do it (65%) emerged as the top challenges for respondents.
Internet data company comScore estimates that by next year, 2014, there will be more users accessing the Internet on mobile devices than desktop computers. A Google-commissioned study, meanwhile, found that 67% of visitors are more likely to buy from a site if it is mobile friendly. Some 61% are more likely to leave if the site is not mobile friendly.
It is no surprise therefore that more and more business are investing on a mobile friendly website. According to the State of Digital Marketing Report 2014, only 57% of B2B businesses have a mobile friendly presence. The figure is higher for B2C at 71%. As businesses realize that they need to be mobile friendly to stay in the competition, they will be seeking help to either convert their websites into mobile responsive or to create a separate mobile site. Even better news: a whopping 77.5% of marketers plan to spend invest more in mobile!
4) Social Media Optimization
Social media optimization is a challenge for marketers, with 88% saying they cannot clearly track its ROI. Despite this, marketers are willing to raise their budgets for the coming year for social, saying they have benefited from it in some way. Some 60% of B2C and 54% of B2B businesses said they have generated leads from social. “Today, 1 in 5 B2B and 1 in 3 B2C marketers report seeing revenue from social media. This explains why marketers are a lot less frustrated with social media measurement compared to two years ago,” the Webmarketing123 report said.
When it comes to budgets, over 60% of marketers said they will spend more for social while only 2% said they will spend less. In total, 17% of businesses asked currently outsource social media optimization efforts.
We lumped these two together because they are 1) both forms paid advertising and 2) remarketing uses display banner ads. AdWords Remarketing or retargeting allows you to display advertisements to visitors who have left your site and visited another site within the Google Display Network. Some 43% of marketers who have tried retargeting said retargeted ads are effective. However, only 36% of surveyed marketers have tried this method before. “Considered an effective method and not everyone is using it” – these words will make remarketing sound like magic to your clients.
As for marketers who currently use display advertising, some 46% are expected to allocate more money for it. Under 6% said they will spend less for it. Some 32% currently outsource it.
BONUS: 6) Graphic Design
Nearly 40% of B2B and over 25% B2C businesses currently use external graphic design providers, instead of in-house team designers. With the explosion of infograhics as a content marketing tool, the demand for more graphic design is expected to increase even more. Some 30% of marketers will spend more on it while only 3% will spend less.
